There are quite a few common but powerful programs that have the capacity for writing and drawing. You may or may not know them. We would like to take this opportunity to point them out and show you how to enable their pen features. For those programs that do not have pen features, please check our WriteScreen® Software for usage.

The programs that have pen features specified are:

Use for PowerPoint
Use for MSN Messenger
Use for Windows Messenger
Use for NetMeeting
Use for BitWare
Use for Paint

PowerPoint - right clicking in slide show format will drop down a menu. Select Pointer Options and then the Pen option, and the page becomes writable. You can easily use  a WriteScreen® product to highlight, to annotate the slide in the middle of your presentation.  From watching the projector screen, your audience will be called to attention by your writing action. There are hot keys E for erase, B for black out the slide, etc. You can find more hot keys details in the Help item of the drop down menu. The mouse left-click will no longer advance the page. Instead, you can use PgDn, PgUp or arrow keys to control the page flow. However, the annotated page can not be saved; but WriteScreen® Software can!

Windows Messenger select the Start Whiteboard from the Actions menu. Wait until your buddy accepts your invitation. After the whiteboard pops up, then you can draw or write on it. This whiteboard is shared by your buddy/contact; i.e. both ends are seeing and using the some board via internet in real time. The Whiteboard has good features for multiple pages and they can be saved. However, the firewall may block this sharing task.

MSN Messenger you can download the latest version from www.microsoft.com/downloads that has the handwriting feature. You can personalize your conversations by using the Handwrite feature. From the Handwrite tab in the conversation window (The window you use to send and receive instant messages.), you can use the WriteScreen® product to draw doodles and to handwrite messages. The program provides good tools, such as eraser, width, color, undo, redo, grid paper, etc. It works well and ignores the firewall.

NetMeeting clicking on the whiteboard icon pops up a writable whiteboard. The contents of the whiteboard can be saved.  Freehand drawing is passed over the network so you can communicate graphics to remote sites efficiently in real time. However, static IP address may need. For this reason, via the LAN or Intranet can  be accomplished easier than via the Internet.
